Synopsis
Gotham’s crime boss Frank Fitzpatrick leaves Matt Hagen disfigured, severing the young man’s meteoric rise from street kid to Hollywood leading man. Abandoned by his team and stripped of everything, Matt pursues a cutting-edge treatment that miraculously restores his former appearance. The procedure, however, unexpectedly fractures his grip on reality, sending him spiraling into a destructive path of all-consuming revenge.
Tom Rhys Harries anchors the descent, playing both Matt Hagen and the shifting entity of Clayface. His performance reveals the horror of a man whose identity is no longer fixed, but malleable and dangerous. As his perception warps, the boundary between victim and monster dissolves. Caitlyn Corr and Eddie Marsan orbit this central tragedy, their fates intertwined with Matt’s unraveling. The narrative focuses tightly on the psychological cost of that miraculous cure, showing how the restoration of the self can become the destruction of the soul. There is no external monster here, only the internal one, amplified by a treatment that promises wholeness but delivers only chaos. Matt’s revenge becomes an all-consuming force, erasing the lines between justice and madness in a city that has already discarded him.
