Synopsis
Alders Ehrenreich’s Edward Ridgeway leaves New York for Switzerland with a single, urgent objective: persuade acclaimed novelist Patricia Highsmith to write one final installment of her Tom Ripley series. What begins as a professional pitch quickly curdles into something darker. As Ridgeway’s efforts become increasingly sinister, the boundary between admiration and obsession blurs, trapping both characters in a tense, escalating confrontation.
Helen Mirren’s Highsmith remains the immovable center of this psychological standoff, her quiet resistance contrasting sharply with Ridgeway’s growing desperation. The narrative strips away the glamour of literary fame to expose the raw, often uncomfortable dynamics of obsession and creative control. Without relying on external shocks, the story derives its tension from the slow, inevitable deterioration of the relationship between the persistent guest and the reluctant host, turning a simple request for a book into a chilling test of wills.
